Andrus Peat retires from NFL after 11 seasons

- Andrus Peat announced his retirement from the NFL after 11 seasons, writing on Instagram: "I gave it everything I had. I may be walking away from football, but not from the lessons it taught me."
- Peat, 32, appeared in six games with three starts for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, his final year in the league.
- The New Orleans Saints selected Peat with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2015 draft out of Stanford; he played nine seasons there, appearing in 117 games (108 starts) including playoffs and earning three consecutive Pro Bowl nods (2018–20).
- Peat played the 2024 season with the Las Vegas Raiders (15 games, 1 start), following the path of his father Todd Peat, who played guard for the Raiders in 1990, 1992 and 1993.
- Across his final two seasons in Las Vegas and Pittsburgh, Peat combined for just four starts — a sharp drop from his peak as a Saints Pro Bowler.
Why it matters: Peat's retirement closes the book on a former top-15 draft pick whose production had clearly diminished — he totaled only four starts across his final two seasons with the Raiders and Steelers, compared to 108 starts over nine years in New Orleans. The Saints also lose one of the last links to their 2015 draft class, while the Steelers free a roster spot on the offensive line.
