- "Mr. Hero" had its international premiere yesterday at the New York Asian Film Festival under the Country in Focus: Vietnam section, after a late-April Vietnamese theatrical debut timed to Reunification Day.
- Skyline Media is orchestrating the international rollout, partnering with New Jersey-based Eastern Edge Films for an August 7 North America release — their fourth collaboration after The Real Sister, The Ancestral Home, and Leaving Mom.
- Infinity Entertainment will release the film in Australia and New Zealand starting July 23, with J Cineplex taking it to Myanmar in Q3 2026.
- The film stars Thai Hoa, labeled Vietnam's "box office king," as a struggling taxi driver who engineers a viral "street hero" persona to fund his critically ill daughter's care, only to see public support curdle into outrage.
- Vo Thach Thao directs from a production by Timothy Linh Bui, shared across Vietnam's Happy Canvas, HK Film, and V Pictures plus Singapore's Beach House Pictures, Fremantle's Asia label.
Why it matters: Skyline Media is stringing together a real pipeline — four-territory theatrical coverage inside roughly six weeks, including a repeat Eastern Edge Films collaboration and first-time Myanmar entry — giving Vietnamese titles a more structured international path than ad-hoc festival pickups typically deliver.
