Cruz, Huppert, Lee Chang-dong Set for TIFF Tribute Awards

- Penélope Cruz will receive the TIFF Special Tribute Award, arriving in Toronto with two titles: the Spanish-language drama "La Bola Negra," where directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi won best director at Cannes, and "Bunker" opposite Oscar winner Javier Bardem, written and directed by Florian Zeller.
- Lee Chang-dong will take the TIFF Ebert Director Award and returns to the festival with "Possible Love," his first feature since "Burning" (2018), in Special Presentations.
- Isabelle Huppert, whose career spans more than 100 films, will receive the TIFF Tribute Performer Award and reunites with director Marc Fitoussi — who guided her through 2014's "Paris Follies" — for the gala comedy "All About Corinne."
- Rosalind Eleazar, the breakout of Apple TV's "Slow Horses," will also receive the TIFF Tribute Performer Award and appears in "Misty Green," written and directed by Chris Rock.
- Siân Heder will receive the TIFF Tribute Award in Impact Media for "Being Heumann," the festival's opening night selection and her follow-up to the 2022 Best Picture Oscar winner "CODA."
- The Tribute Awards gala is set for Sept. 13 during the 51st Toronto International Film Festival (Sept. 10-20) and serves as TIFF's largest annual fundraiser, supporting expanded access to cinema, artist development, and industry initiatives.
Why it matters: The honorees aren't just receiving career tributes — each has a specific film premiering at this year's fest, making the Sept. 13 gala a de facto awards-season launchpad for the 51st TIFF running Sept. 10-20.
