Meta signs 180 MWdc solar PPA with Zelestra in Texas

- Meta signed a PPA with Zelestra for the 180 MWdc Palmera Solar Plant in Freestone County, Texas, announced Tuesday, to help support its goal of powering operations with 100% clean energy.
- Zelestra and Meta's expanded partnership now covers roughly 1.4 GWdc of solar capacity across eight U.S.-based projects, all expected to reach commercial operation by 2028.
- Zelestra recently broke ground on the 176 MWdc Skull Creek Solar Plant in Anderson County, Texas, and the 200 MWdc Reclamation Solar Project in Gibson County, Indiana — both backed by Meta PPAs and expected to support about 400 jobs at peak construction.
- Jasper County Solar Project, an 81 MWdc Indiana facility, recently became commercially operational as the first project delivered under the Meta-Zelestra partnership.
- Amanda Yang, Meta's head of clean and renewable energy, said the projects advance Meta's energy goals while delivering jobs and long-term value in host communities.
- Meta has set a 2030 net-zero supply chain goal, but like its tech peers is seeing rising emissions tied to AI use, driving fresh investment in clean energy and low-carbon solutions.

The deal deepens Meta's reliance on Zelestra, which is now building three Meta-backed plants and just delivered its first one.
