- Rippling Data Cloud officially launches Thursday morning, combining data warehousing, transformation, and visualization into a single system with built-in understanding of org structure — positioning Rippling to compete with dedicated BI vendors like Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt Labs, and Tableau.
- Parker Conrad demoed the product on Rippling's own workforce, surfacing that one employee was running Claude at a $30,000/year rate to analyze her calendar and email — "no one was doing anything wrong," he said, but the ROI wasn't there.
- Rippling cross-references Anthropic usage logs with GitHub PR data and performance ratings to flag engineers with high AI spend and high peer rejection rates on code reviews, framing them as potential "slop" generators; the company has already cut spending limits for some employees.
- Rippling AI is in use at about 560 companies, with new revenue running at roughly $5 million to $7 million a month; the base SKU bundled with Rippling AI costs around $20/month with usage-based charges for heavier consumers.
- Conrad said Rippling has recently shifted significant AI workload from Anthropic to OpenAI, calling OpenAI's 5.5 model "both better and more cost-effective," while noting the balance keeps shifting across tasks.
- Rippling's Business Banking product, also announced this week, offers high-yield checking and same-day payroll (changes accepted as late as 1 p.m. on payday) — a direct shot at Ramp, which just raised $750 million at a $44 billion valuation.
- Conrad said Rippling is roughly two years from cash-flow positive and spends 45–50% of revenue on R&D versus 8–9% at public-market peers like Paylocity and Paycom, adding flatly: "We are not going public. Not even with a 'wink, wink.'"
Why it matters: Rippling's $5–7M/month of new AI revenue from 560 customers is meaningful for a company still ~2 years from cash-flow positive — and its move from Anthropic to OpenAI's 5.5 model shows that model loyalty in the enterprise AI stack flips whenever a cheaper, better option lands, giving Rippling's bundled pricing real leverage.
