Peralta: 'I've let them down' before Mets exit

- Freddy Peralta said his Mets tenure is "probably" over after Sunday's start, admitting "I've let them down" while finishing with a 4.99 ERA across 22 starts — well below the 2.70 ERA he posted over 176⅔ innings as a two-time All-Star with Milwaukee
- The Mets acquired Peralta from the Brewers in late January, trading two top prospects for him and Tobias Myers (now in Triple-A) as a frontline piece for a World Series push
- On Sunday, Peralta gave up three runs (two earned) over four innings and 93 pitches in an 8-3 win over the Dodgers, bouncing back from seven runs in 5⅓ innings in his prior outing
- Tyrone Taylor, another impending free agent and trade chip, hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth and is batting .382 with five home runs and a 1.403 OPS in 39 plate appearances since returning from the injured list
- Mets interim manager Andy Green plans to start Taylor against Atlanta this week to showcase him for clubs seeking outfield help before the Aug. 3 trade deadline
