- John Carpenter will receive the Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year award — the editors' group's top honor — at the 77th annual ACE Eddie Awards.
- John Carpenter is being honored for a career spanning four crafts: filmmaker, screenwriter, producer and composer, the roles listed alongside the announcement.
- Bonnie Koehler and Christopher Nelson will also receive ACE Career Achievement awards during the same ceremony.
- American Cinema Editors has three named honorees on the 77nd ceremony slate: one Filmmaker of the Year award for Carpenter plus two Career Achievement awards for Koehler and Nelson, both of whom work as editors.
Why it matters: For the American Cinema Editors, the 77th annual ceremony hands its single top honor to Carpenter while reserving two Career Achievement awards for editors Bonnie Koehler and Christopher Nelson. Three named honorees now sit on the slate, giving the group's own craft of editing a second, parallel line of recognition alongside the headline winner.
