- Lancia unveiled the Gamma, its first all‑electric crossover, built on Stellantis’ 400V STLA Medium EV platform.
- Gamma will be offered in a 145 hp plug‑in hybrid and three battery‑electric trims ranging from a 230 hp FWD with up to 540 km (335 mi) range to a 375 hp AWD model with up to 675 km (420 mi) range and a 104 kWh battery.
- Stellantis plans to produce the Gamma at its Melfi plant in Italy, emphasizing the vehicle’s European design and Italian manufacturing expertise.
- Gamma’s interior mixes physical buttons, HVAC controls, a digital instrument cluster and a wide central display, reflecting Lancia’s new design language.
- Stellantis sees the Gamma as a potential blueprint for revitalising its Jeep and Chrysler brands in the United States, especially given the PHEV option that aligns with CJDR dealers’ existing Jeep 4xe and Pacifica PHEV sales.
Why it matters: Stellantis gains a fresh EV offering that can open the North American market for Lancia and serve as a blueprint for updating Jeep and Chrysler line‑ups, while Italian manufacturing benefits from a high‑tech product built at Melfi. Competitors lose a potential foothold as the Gamma brings a new European‑designed crossover to the region.
