Fudd joins globe-trotting Project B league

- Azzi Fudd, the No. 1 pick in April's WNBA draft and Dallas Wings rookie, announced on social media Friday she will play in Project B this offseason, joining No. 3 pick Awa Fam in the new 5-on-5 league running November through April.
- Project B will field six teams of 11 players competing in seven two-week tournaments across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, with Valencia, Spain, and Tokyo among host cities (Tokyo games scheduled March 25–April 4).
- Project B's roster includes Nneka Ogwumike, Alyssa Thomas, Jonquel Jones, Jewell Loyd, and Kelsey Mitchell, with roughly a dozen commitments so far and more young international players expected.
- Host Broadcast Services, the broadcaster of the FIFA World Cup, will serve as Project B's production partner and plans to stream all games globally.
- Project B will pay larger salaries than the WNBA, per the league — a notable contrast for Fudd, who is making $500,000 as the No. 1 pick, and whose prior NIL deal with rival league Unrivaled was limited to her college years.
- Fudd is averaging 12.7 points per game on 50.7% shooting for the Wings, underscoring her on-court production as she commits to the offseason league.
