- Daniil Medvedev was disqualified from his China Open semifinal against Novak Djokovic after hitting a ball into the stands and striking a fan in the head.
- Novak Djokovic advances to the China Open final on Tuesday to face Alex de Minaur.
Why it matters: Medvedev forfeits a semifinal at a major ATP event over an errant shot into the crowd, and Djokovic gets a walkover into the China Open final against de Minaur on Tuesday — a costly lapse with ranking and prize-money implications for Medvedev.
