PBS SoCal, KMEX Lead L.A. Local Emmy Wins; KVEA, KABC Land Top Newscast Prizes

- PBS SoCal led all outlets at the 2026 Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards with eight wins, spanning live events, entertainment, crime/social issues, and arts programming
- Univision's KMEX placed second with seven wins, while Telemundo's KVEA earned six, including newscast Emmys for its daytime and evening broadcasts — "Noticiero Telemundo 52 Al Mediodía" and "Noticiero Telemundo 52 A las 11pm"
- KABC/ABC7 broke KVEA's newscast sweep by winning the daily morning newscast Emmy for "Eyewitness News at 6am," after KVEA had claimed all three time slots the prior year

- On the nominations side, PBS SoCal landed 29 nods, followed by KABC/ABC7 (21), KMEX (20), KVEA (18), KNBC/NBC4 (15), and Spectrum News 1 (10)
Why it matters: PBS SoCal converted a category-leading 29 nominations into eight wins — the most of any outlet — cementing its position as the night's biggest winner, while the morning newscast category delivered the only real shakeup: ABC7's "Eyewitness News at 6am" ended KVEA's prior-year sweep of all three daypart categories.
