- Wildwood SteelBook opened for Amazon preorder two weeks after the film’s Oct. 23 theatrical debut, packaged as a limited two-disc edition with 4K UHD and Blu-ray; Shout! Studios distributes it, but the release date remains unconfirmed.
- Wildwood reached theaters on Oct. 23 as Laika’s first feature film in seven years, following the studio’s 2019 production Missing Link.
- Laika described Wildwood as its most ambitious production to date, creating 231 puppets and 136 locations for the painstakingly handcrafted film.
- Travis Knight directed Wildwood while serving as Laika’s president and CEO, adapting Colin Meloy’s 2011 novel with illustrations by Meloy’s wife, Carson Ellis.
- Peyton Elizabeth Lee voices Prue McKeel, who enters a magical forest after crows abduct her baby brother; Jacob Tremblay voices her classmate Curtis.
Why it matters: Collectors get the limited two-disc configuration—4K UHD plus Blu-ray—while still waiting on a confirmed release date. For Laika, the edition follows the studio’s first feature in seven years and its most ambitious production, whose handmade world required 231 puppets and 136 locations.
