- BYD confirmed the larger Seagull variant will be called the 'Great Seagull,' previewed by Ocean series sales boss Zhang Zhuo and set to go on sale by the end of 2026.
- The Great Seagull measures 4,205 mm long versus 3,780 mm for the current Seagull, and gets a 95 kW (127 hp) motor up from 55 kW, per China's MIIT approval filings.
- BYD's Great Seagull is expected to feature the new Blade Battery 2.0 with Flash Charging (10% to 70% in five minutes) and roof-mounted LiDAR enabling the God's Eye B driver-assistance system.
- The current Seagull (sold overseas as the Dolphin Surf and Dolphin Mini) was the sixth most popular EV globally in H1 2026 with over 27,500 units sold, starting at roughly $10,000 in China.
- The larger model is expected to launch overseas as a Dolphin Surf or Dolphin Mini variant, likely priced under €30,000 ($35,000) in Europe to compete with the Volkswagen ID.3 Neo and Renault Megane.
