- Serrana Su-Ling Bliss, James Acaster, and Dee Bradley Baker are joining Cynthia Erivo and Ncuti Gatwa in the voice cast of animated musical movie "Bad Fairies," directed by Megan Nicole Dong and Olivier Staphylas
- The casting additions were announced at the "Warner Bros. Pictures Animation – A New Chapter" presentation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Monday
- Su-Ling Bliss will voice Fei, Acaster voices Stickers, and Baker voices Groundbeef — roles in a film that follows a subversive gang of fairies shaking up their magical world
- "Bad Fairies" is the first feature under a 2023 first-look deal between Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Locksmith Animation, and is set for theatrical release on May 21, 2027
- The second WBPA-Locksmith collaboration, "The Lunar Chronicles," is already locked for worldwide release on November 3, 2028
- Deborah Frances-White wrote the original screenplay; Tony winners Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss (Six: The Musical) are writing songs, with Grammy-nominated Isabella "Machine" Summers composing the score and Ian Eisendrath as executive music producer
- Production is currently underway in London, with DNEG Animation serving as digital partner
Why it matters: This is the first feature from the 2023 WB Animation–Locksmith partnership to reach its casting phase, with theatrical release locked for May 21, 2027 and a sequel partner title (The Lunar Chronicles) already greenlit for November 3, 2028. The voice cast blends a Tony winner (Erivo), a Taskmaster alum and Netflix comedy staple (Acaster), and a prolific animation veteran (Baker), signaling Warner is positioning the subversive fairy musical as a tentpole for its newly expanded animation slate.
