- Rob-Will (Jai Courtney) is killed in the Episode 9 finale, ending the character's run after a season as a reckless antagonist whose final acts included insulting Beth in front of Rip.
- Beulah (Annette Bening) is revealed to have been unknowingly trafficking fentanyl for 15 years through the Jackson family's operation — which smuggled drugs inside cows "split open to shove drugs into" — and is expelled from Everett's home over the deception.
- Carter (Finn Little) is kidnapped by the cartel in the finale's final beats, with the recap confirming "getting Carter back is the new mission" for the next season.
- Oreana (Natalie Alyn Lind) is revealed to be pregnant and runs away with Carter just before his kidnapping, compounding the cliffhanger.
- Mariano (Raoul Max Trujillo), dubbed "El Padrino," orders Joaquin to kill his own brother, triggering a large-scale shootout in which the recap notes "Everett is the MVP" despite learning about the mission only that night.
- Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser) anchor the finale's action sequences, with Beth smoking calmly in the background of brawls, shooting a shotgun at Beulah, and barging into offices to chew out staff while Rip physically dismantles multiple aggressors.
Why it matters: The finale wipes out Rob-Will and removes Beulah from the Everett household, eliminating two ongoing sources of chaos while converting Carter's kidnapping into a cartel-driven rescue arc. That shift resets Beth and Rip from property defenders to the center of a cartel rescue mission, reframing 'Dutton Ranch' from frontier drama toward cartel thriller for Season 2.
