- Bradley Cooper will star as field commander Duke in Paramount's new 'G.I. Joe' movie.
- Danny McBride co-wrote the screenplay with Jeff Fradley, with the project positioned as a fresh take on the iconic Hasbro toy line.
- Paramount is keeping plot details and further casting under wraps for the franchise reboot.
- The film originates from the Hasbro toy line, which Paramount is reviving as a cinematic property with McBride and Cooper at the center.
Why it matters: Cooper attaching to a franchise lead role marks a pivot toward tentpole action, while McBride co-writing with Jeff Fradley points to a tonal pivot for the Hasbro property — but with no plot, additional cast, or release window disclosed, the project remains an early-stage announcement rather than a confirmed theatrical commitment.
