- Iran has received an official US counterproposal to its latest offer on ending the war and is taking the response to its cabinet for review.
- Trump rejected Iran's earlier 7-day ceasefire plan, even as clashes in the Strait of Hormuz continue alongside the diplomatic exchange.
Why it matters: Iran's cabinet is now reviewing the US counterproposal even after Trump rejected Tehran's earlier 7-day plan, with Hormuz clashes continuing alongside the talks — keeping both diplomatic and military tracks live simultaneously and putting the next decision in Iranian leadership's hands.
