Houthis launch new attacks on al-Makha and Marib as Yemen conflict escalates

- Houthis launched a wave of missiles and drones at Marib city and the Red Sea port of al-Makha (Mocha) overnight, with one attack hitting the city outskirts and another striking a main road.
- The overnight strikes killed four people and wounded eight, according to state media and the director of al-Makha airport, with Marib's government media office reporting six ballistic missiles and four drones hit residential neighbourhoods.
- Port operations at al-Makha were already paused due to several days of prior strikes, according to facility director Abdulmalik al-Sharabi.
- The Yemeni military launched 181 operations against Houthi positions across several governorates on Saturday and Sunday, killing and wounding dozens of Houthi members; the Houthis acknowledged four of their own were killed.
- Earlier this month, Houthi strikes on military camps in Marib and Hadramout killed at least 30 government soldiers — the deadliest single episode of the conflict in years — ending a relative lull that had held since April 2022.
