- Matt Reeves posted a Batmobile camera-test image on X captioned "#SnowTires 🦇," the first visual confirmation that the long-gestating sequel is in production and set during winter.
- Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne alongside Colin Farrell (Oz Cobb/The Penguin), Jeffrey Wright (Commissioner Gordon), Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), and Barry Keoghan, who is expected to reprise the Joker.
- Scarlett Johansson joins the cast as Gilda Dent, wife of Gotham district attorney Harvey Dent, with Sebastian Stan set to play Harvey Dent himself and Charles Dance believed to be playing Harvey's father, Charles Dent.
- The 2022 original 'The Batman' grossed $772 million worldwide against an $185–200 million budget, making it the seventh-highest-grossing film of that year.
- Reeves co-wrote the script with Mattson Tomlin and told Variety at the Emmys in September he is "incredibly excited" and "really proud of the script."
- 'The Batman: Part 2' is set to open in theaters October 1, 2027.
Why it matters: The Batmobile snap is the first hard proof that 'The Batman: Part 2' — five years after the original's $772 million global gross — is actually rolling, and the winter setting plus the casting of Johansson, Stan, and Dance signals Reeves is building Gotham's Dent family tragedy into the sequel ahead of its October 1, 2027 release.
