- Russia dropped eight glide bombs across Zaporizhzhia's residential districts in a 90-minute span, killing a 71-year-old woman and wounding 31 people including a 16-year-old girl, with 22 apartment buildings damaged across four districts.
- Glide bombs are Soviet-era munitions retrofitted with guidance systems capable of carrying up to 3,000 kg (6,600 lbs) of explosives, and Ukraine has no effective countermeasures against them.
- Zelenskyy issued another urgent plea for more US-made Patriot air defense systems, noting they are the only interceptors that can reliably stop ballistic missiles but are in short supply due to the Iran war.
- Trump appeared to back off from an earlier commitment to license Patriot production to Ukraine, saying Friday the licensing matter is still under discussion and that he has not made a final decision.
- Zelenskyy proposed an alternative: having Elon Musk allow Ukraine to use Starlink satellites to target ballistic missile launch sites inside Russia, though officials have not publicly confirmed whether this is being considered.
- Russia launched 181 long-range strike drones overnight Sunday into Monday; Ukrainian air defenses jammed or intercepted 163, but 14 caused damage at 13 locations.
- Ukraine struck back with drone attacks on another Wildberries warehouse in Russia's Vladimir region (injuring three people) and killed three people in an overnight attack on Crimea, according to Russian-installed officials.
Why it matters: Ukraine has no defense against 3,000-kg glide bombs hitting residential areas, and the only system that can stop ballistic missiles — the Patriot — is in short supply partly because of the Iran war, with Trump still undecided on licensing domestic production. Each passing week of indecision leaves apartment buildings in cities like Zaporizhzhia exposed to a weapon Zelenskyy cannot counter.
