- Aaron Turner — formerly of Isis and currently of Sumac — made his debut as a touring member of Neurosis at July's Fire in the Mountains festival, which also marked Steve Von Till's ongoing work with the Firekeeper Alliance to reduce suicide rates among indigenous youth through heavy metal.
- Filmmaker Bobby Cochran shot a short film at Fire in the Mountains featuring four members of the Blackfeet Nation from Browning, Montana, scored to 'We Are Torn Wide Open' and 'Mirror Deep' from the new record.
