- Arsenal signed Spain goalkeeper Misa Rodriguez on a free transfer — their sixth signing of the summer ahead of the 2026-27 WSL campaign.
- Rodriguez, 27, made a club-record 215 appearances over six years at Real Madrid and was named captain there last season before departing at the end of her contract.
- She will wear the number 16 shirt at Arsenal and compete with Daphne van Domselaar and Anneke Borbe, both of whom struggled with injuries in 2025-26.
- Rodriguez has 34 Spain caps since her 2021 senior debut — including three appearances during the 2023 Women's World Cup triumph — but has since lost her starting role to Barcelona's Cata Coll.
- Arsenal also brought in Georgia Stanway, Ona Batlle, Selina Cerci, Geraldine Reuteler and Lisa Baum this window under head coach Renee Slegers.
- Last season, Arsenal finished second in the WSL and reached the Women's Champions League semi-finals.
Why it matters: Rodriguez fills a goalkeeping hole left by injuries to van Domselaar and Borbe, giving a side that finished second in the WSL last season a proven No. 1. Her capture is the centerpiece of a six-signing rebuild under Renee Slegers targeting a title challenge and deeper Champions League run.
