- MIFA Feature Pitches selected 10 projects from more than 200 submissions at the Annecy Animation Festival, with past selections including Academy Award winner "Flow" and César Award winner "Chicken for Linda!" serving as the template for industry impact.
- "Pachapuriqkuna, Wanderers of Time" is positioned to become Peru's first stop-motion feature, with director Siwar Peralta and producer Valeria Salinas working alongside local Amazonian communities to deliver screenings and workshops along the river.
- "And on That Day…" marks twins Kushal and Kushagra Kishore's Indian animated feature combining 2D and paper-drawn animation, set in Delhi — which the team notes is "rarely seen on the animated world stage" — currently in late pre-production.
- "Uncle Jo's Cabin", a France-Belgium-Luxembourg co-production from Folivari, Take Five, and Doghouse Films, adapts Brigitte Smadja's book set during the 1967 Six-Day War, with co-directors Maud Garnier and Marc Robinet blending 2D animation, digital painting, and live-action reference footage.
- "Rise of Ying Ge" presented June 24 at Annecy with a projected $11.3 million budget split between France and China, of which $2.8 million is already secured in China; director Denis Do is targeting a production start by 2028.
- "Factory Beyond the Hill" brings a Brazilian-Spanish co-production adapting J.J. Veiga's novel, with animation director Ricardo Kump and live-action director Lucas Abrahão blending horror, dark comedy, and an eerie atmosphere for an adult/teen audience.
Why it matters: MIFA Feature Pitches is a proven launchpad for indie animation — past selections "Flow" and "Chicken for Linda!" both went on to major awards — so these five projects have a credible shot at the international financing, distribution, and festival recognition they came to Annecy to find, with "Rise of Ying Ge" already holding $2.8M of its $11.3M budget.
