- Bank Leumi, Israel's largest bank, partnered with Galaxy Digital to let customers buy, hold, and sell BTC, ETH, and SOL through its Leumi Trade app starting early 2027, making it the first Israeli bank to offer digital asset trading.
- Galaxy Digital will supply its GalaxyOne Institutional platform for trading and its custody infrastructure (formerly GK8) to support Leumi's digital asset operations.
- Galaxy Digital reported an $85 million net loss in Q2, which it attributed to declining digital asset prices, even as its digital assets business generated $66 million in adjusted gross profit, up 34% quarter-over-quarter.
- Galaxy Digital, founded and led by Mike Novogratz, began trading on Nasdaq under ticker GLXY in May 2025; shares were at $21.38 on Friday, up about 2% on the day but down roughly 25% over the prior year.
- Leumi's mobile banking arm, Pepper, will also extend the crypto trading service to its users through the same dedicated app section, and Leumi says it serves millions of retail and business customers.
Why it matters: Leumi serves millions of customers and becomes the first Israeli bank to offer direct crypto trading, giving Galaxy Digital a bank-channel distribution foothold at the same time it reported an $85 million quarterly net loss — the partnership lands institutional revenue as Galaxy's core trading business is being squeezed by falling digital asset prices.
