- Survive: The Game cast Olivia Holt, Jaimie Alexander and Rohan Campbell as leads, with Holt coming off Heart Eyes, Alexander’s five-season Blindspot run and Campbell’s Halloween Ends breakout.
- Scout Taylor-Compton directs from a script she wrote with Michael Kennedy; the project is her fourth film with producer Randy Wayne and her second directorial effort for Rebellium Films.
- Survive: The Game is filming entirely in Gipuzkoa, Spain, with work at Zinealdea Studios and on location in Irún.
- Scout Taylor-Compton said the film asks what it means to survive when the threat is not outside the door, reframing the horror chase as a confrontation with the worst version of oneself.
- Rebellium Films is producing with Building Blocks Productions and Red Phoenix Productions; Randy Wayne and Talia Bella are the Rebellium producers, while Tom O’Connell, Taylor-Compton and Amy Covell represent the other banners.
- Survive: The Game is being viewed by its production as having franchise potential, with producer Randy Wayne describing its antagonists as creative, scary and inventive.
Why it matters: Taylor-Compton gains a three-lead ensemble for her second directorial film for Rebellium, with production already under way at Zinealdea Studios and on location in Irún. For the producers, the ancient-board-game death premise supplies a distinct supernatural hook that they explicitly view as having franchise potential.
