- Other category winners included Anna Sargent (Best Performance in a Feature for "Take Me Home"), "The Haunting of Pennhurst" (Best Documentary), "Renegades" (Best Unscripted Series), and Cassidy Huff (Best Social Creator).
- Winners were selected by committee members, a majority of whom are individuals with disabilities, and the awards are co-produced by Film Independent Spirit Awards exec producers Shawn Davis and Andrew Schaff with Live Digital Entertainment's Eddie Delbridge.
- PBS SoCal Plus will premiere the ceremony Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and re-air it Nov. 20 at 8 p.m., with the program also available on the PBS app.
Why it matters: The Darcys establish a dedicated awards platform for authentic disability representation in entertainment, with a selection committee majority composed of people with disabilities — giving the disabled creative community direct authority over who gets honored. Shows like 'The Pitt' and 'Horsegirls' benefit from institutional recognition that elevates disabled talent both in front of and behind the camera.
