- Reinaldo Marcus Green launched Office Hours, a new filmmaker fellowship at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where he is an alum, selecting an inaugural class of five filmmakers who are all recent graduates or current students in the graduate film program.
- The inaugural cohort — Alex Jiang, Maissa Lihedheb, Skyla Page, Andre Shen, and Taylor Sanghyun Lee — was chosen by a committee of filmmakers including Kasi Lemmons, John Tintori, Chiara Bernasconi, and Mia Cioffi Henry.
- Office Hours will host a series of intimate sessions throughout the academic year covering developing a voice, choosing material, working with actors and collaborators, navigating representation, dealing with setbacks, and building a sustainable career, per Green.
- Green said the fellowship addresses what he lacked coming out of NYU: "access — someone I could call, ask the questions I didn't know how to ask, and have an honest conversation about what this career actually looks like."
- Green's credits include directing King Richard (2021, six Oscar nominations including Best Picture), co-writing and directing Bob Marley: One Love (2024), plus TV work on We Own This City and Netflix's Top Boy; he is currently directing and executive producing Sky's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo adaptation.
- Fellow Taylor Sanghyun Lee had his directorial debut feature ROUNDS selected for the 2026 Sundance Directors & Screenwriters Lab, the 2026 NYU Purple List, and the 2025 TIFF & CJ K-Story Fund, while Alex Jiang is developing Circle, one of 12 projects selected for the 15th Biennale College Cinema.
Why it matters: Green is channeling the access he lacked as a young filmmaker into structured mentorship for five emerging voices, with NYU Tisch's graduate film department chair Andrew Okpeaha MacLean calling it "an incredible opportunity" as the five fellows develop features in various stages — from Jiang's Biennale College Cinema project to Lee's Sundance Labs-bound debut.
