- Flipper Devices announced Flipper One, a Linux-powered networking gadget distinct from the Flipper Zero, featuring 2x Gigabit Ethernet, 5 Gbps USB Ethernet, and Wi-Fi 6E across 2.4/5/6 GHz bands
- Flipper One runs an eight-core RK3576 chip (with Mali-G52 GPU and NPU for local AI) alongside a two-core Raspberry Pi RP2350 microcontroller that keeps the display, buttons, and power subsystem functional even when the Linux side is off
- Flipper Devices partnered with open-source consultancy Collabora to push RK3576 support into the mainline Linux Kernel, making the SoC downloadable from Kernel.org for tinkerers
- Flipper One includes an M.2 port accepting 5G modems, SDR modules, AI accelerators, NVMe/SATA SSDs, and Wi-Fi cards via adapters, and can function as a router, VPN gateway, bridge, Linux desktop, or 4K@120Hz media box via HDMI 2.1
- CEO Pavel Zhovner said the company is developing FlipperOS, a custom Linux distro with profile-based preconfigured packages to eliminate the SD-card re-flashing cycle that plagues Raspberry Pi OS workflows, plus a FlipCTL interface for small-screen LCD control
- Flipper Devices has sold over 1 million Flipper Zero units and generated more than $150 million in sales, though the base Flipper One configuration is likely to cost under $350 and excludes cellular modules
Why it matters: Flipper Devices is leveraging its million-unit hacker community to crowdsource the software for a device that could become a sub-$350 Swiss Army knife for network tinkering — but the announcement is heavily aspirational, with NPU support, FlipperOS, FlipCTL, and offline LLMs all still in concept stages and dependent on developer contributions.
