Concentrating roughly three-quarters of the 822-drone barrage on Moscow — rather than front-line targets — signals a deliberate shift toward pressuring the capital's air defenses rather than pursuing purely tactical battlefield gains.

- Russia said at least seven people were killed in what officials called the "largest-scale" Ukrainian attack of 2026, with 822 drones deployed and roughly 600 of them aimed at Moscow.
- Moscow regional governor described the bombardment as "one of the most massive drone attacks in recent memory"; a Wildberries warehouse in Koledino, 25km from the city centre, was hit and three people were injured.
- Kyiv has repeatedly targeted Wildberries logistics hubs since July, saying the retailer — dubbed "Russia's Amazon" — is being struck because it supplies equipment to the Russian military.
- Russian strikes across Ukraine killed at least seven and injured more than 39 overnight, with fatalities in Zaporizhzhia (guided bomb on a private home), Kryvyi Rih, Sumy, Donetsk and Kherson.
- Kyiv was hit four times overnight as air-raid sirens sounded; Mayor Vitali Klitschko said six people, including a child, were injured, and Russia said it struck a FirePoint facility producing parts for Ukrainian Flamingo missiles and a factory making drone components.
- President Zelensky said 13 Ukrainian regions came under attack this week, absorbing more than 1,550 attack drones, nearly 1,560 guided aerial bombs and 62 missiles.
- The conflict has "predominantly become an aerial one," per the BBC, as both sides exchange missiles and drones to degrade each other's warfighting capacity while ground gains remain marginal.
Why it matters: Zelensky's tally of 1,550+ attack drones and nearly 1,560 guided bombs hitting Ukraine in a single week — against 822 drones on Russia — shows the war is now an attritional aerial campaign targeting each side's military-industrial backbone (FirePoint missile-parts plant, Wildberries logistics hubs), depleting warfighting capacity even as the front line barely moves.
