- Daytona Platforms raised a $60 million Series B at a $1 billion valuation, led by FirstMark Growth, bringing the three-year-old, New York-based startup's total funding to $91 million.
- FirstMark, which also led Daytona's $24 million Series A in February, was joined by angels including Stripe's Patrick Collison, Shopify's Tobi Lütke, Perplexity's Aravind Srinivas, Zoom's Eric Yuan, Datadog's Olivier Pomel, Quora's Adam D'Angelo — also an OpenAI board member — and Mercor's Brendan Foody.
- Qualcomm Ventures joined the round alongside Samsung Next and Okta Ventures, adding three corporate venture arms to a roster otherwise dominated by individual investors.
- Ivan Burazin wrote that agents "don't work like the long-lived services today's cloud was designed for" because they "spin up thousands of short, stateful jobs nobody planned in advance."
- Daytona Platforms is building a cloud specifically for long-running agents, giving each one its own sandboxed computer with versions of Linux, Windows, macOS and GPUs on a single platform.
Why it matters: Daytona's thesis challenges general-purpose cloud assumptions: its founder says agents spin up thousands of short, stateful jobs that today's long-lived-service cloud was not built for. FirstMark, which led the $24 million Series A in February, led the $60 million round again, funding the three-year-old company to build per-agent sandboxes across Linux, Windows, macOS and GPUs.
