- Trump said he and Putin were close to a deal covering Ukraine and “all of Europe,” describing the prospective Russia-Ukraine agreement as “big, beautiful.”
- Kirill Dmitriev met Trump at the White House, after which Trump said a Russia-Ukraine deal was in the works.
Why it matters: Trump and Putin are the two principals, and Trump’s claimed agreement reaches beyond Ukraine to “all of Europe.” Dmitriev’s White House visit is the concrete diplomatic development on record; without terms, a date, or commitments, the coverage establishes proximity to a deal, not its substance.
