- Sony's upcoming PlayStation 6 may cost over $1,000 before it even hits store shelves, according to multiple gaming outlets citing component price pressures.
- PS6 RAM and storage alone reportedly cost Sony more than $680, per a leaker cited by TechPowerUp, driven by surging AI data center demand for the same components.
Why it matters: If the leaked figures hold, gamers face a $1,000+ barrier to next-gen PlayStation hardware driven by the AI data center buildout competing for the same RAM and storage Sony needs, with component costs alone ($680+) already approaching current-gen console prices.
