Earth, Wind & Fire Postpone SF Show Over Medical Emergency

- Earth, Wind & Fire postponed their Thursday concert at Chase Center in San Francisco after an unnamed band member suffered a medical emergency before the show, the band said on social media.
- TMZ reported the San Francisco Fire Department responded to a "cardiac incident" call that night, with one person transported to the hospital; the patient's name was withheld under HIPAA.
- The show was part of a joint tour with Lionel Richie, and the band said both acts' performances would be rescheduled, with a new date to be announced.
- Ticket holders were told to retain their tickets for the rescheduled date or seek refunds at the point of purchase; a rep for the group declined further comment to Rolling Stone.
- The tour was previously paused in June when Lionel Richie became ill mid-concert during the opening night in Minneapolis, postponing Chicago and Columbus dates now reset for September 30 and October 2.
- The tour's next scheduled date is August 8 in Palm Desert, followed by Los Angeles (Aug 9), Phoenix (Aug 11), with the final show in Austin on August 14.
Why it matters: This is the second medical emergency to disrupt the Earth, Wind & Fire–Lionel Richie joint tour in roughly two months, after Richie fell ill on stage at the Minneapolis opener in June. Fans now face another reschedule, and tour operators must manage at least three postponed shows — San Francisco plus the rebooked Chicago and Columbus dates — while the next gig in Palm Desert is just four days away on August 8.
