- Carbon Tracker will attend COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, from 9–20 November 2026, with a stated focus on the economic and financial implications of transitioning away from fossil fuels as the second global stocktake begins.
- Carbon Tracker and Transport & Environment, NewClimate Institute and IESR will co-organize the official UNFCCC side event “Status of global climate action and the role of transport electrification in meeting climate goals” on 18 November, 13:15–14:45; the session will weigh electric-transport benefits against infrastructure barriers and biofuels’ limitations.
- Green Transition Denmark will host a 10 November methane panel where Carbon Tracker representatives will examine regulation, investment and corporate action against the Global Methane Pledge’s target of at least 30% fewer global methane emissions by 2030 than in 2020.
- Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership will host an 11 November roundtable on stranded assets and physical climate risk, covering Carbon Tracker’s work and the underpricing of climate risk in financial markets.
- ClientEarth will co-organize a 10 November legal-accountability session with Greenpeace International, Environmental Defence Canada and WWF on accelerating the transition away from fossil fuels.
- Energy Transitions Commission will organize a 10 November high-level roundtable on actions to limit warming below 2°C, one of the partner-institution events Carbon Tracker plans to attend.
Why it matters: For fossil-fuel firms, banks and policymakers, COP31 puts transition costs and accountability on the agenda: the program links a 30% methane reduction target by 2030 to regulation, investment and corporate action while pairing EV economics with stranded assets and underpriced physical risk.
