- The Greatest Showman will premiere at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane in spring 2027, following Disney’s announcement at the D23 event in Anaheim.
- Oliver Tompsett will play P.T. Barnum opposite Samantha Barks as Charity Barnum, with Ben Joyce, Vajèn van den Bosch and Malinda Parris also in the principal cast.
- Bristol Hippodrome’s pre-West End engagement sold out earlier this year, ahead of the musical’s spring 2027 opening.
- 20th Century Studios counts The Greatest Showman as the first of its titles to be adapted for the stage by Disney Theatrical Group, with the Seelig Group also producing.
- Benj Pasek and Justin Paul return with “The Greatest Show,” “A Million Dreams,” “Come Alive,” “Rewrite the Stars,” “Never Enough” and “This Is Me,” plus new songs for the stage, while Tim Federle wrote the book and Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs.
- Disney Theatrical Group has not disclosed Broadway plans, although the project was reported last year as headed to the West End with Broadway in mind.
Why it matters: The sold-out Bristol engagement gives the production a concrete box-office test, and the five principal casting announcements give the 2027 West End run a defined lineup. Because Disney has not announced Broadway, the committed stage date is London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane, not a wider theatrical rollout.
