- Paisabazar data as of September 23, 2026 ranks Suryoday, Jana, Ujjivan, Equitas, and AU Small Finance Banks as the top five FD-rate options among major lenders
- Jana Small Finance Bank offers the highest single rate at 8% per annum, but only for a 2-3 year tenure — and not for its other FD windows
- Ujjivan Small Finance Bank leads on the standard two-year tenor at 7.65%, followed by Equitas at 7.55%, Jana at 7.30%, Suryoday at 7.25%, and AU at 7.00%
- Effective dates differ: Ujjivan's 7.65% two-year rate took effect September 1, 2026, and Jana's 7.30% rate for 367-day-to-2-year deposits took effect August 6, 2026
- Suryoday pays 7.45% for tenures of 2 years to under 30 months, while Equitas and AU each offer 7.29% on slightly different two-year-plus windows for deposits under ₹3 crore
- Eligible deposits across these banks are insured by DICGC up to ₹5 lakh per depositor per bank, and all rates apply to regular (not senior citizen) depositors
Why it matters: Retail investors chasing the highest advertised FD yield can be misled by headline rates that only apply to narrow tenure bands — Jana's 8% only covers 2-3 years, while AU's two-year rate is just 7.00%. Matching the rate to the investor's actual holding period, rather than the bank's marketing number, is what separates a real return from a paper one.
