- The Invite will receive the Vanguard Award at the Palm Springs International Film Awards, which recognizes a film’s cast and director for their collective work.
- Olivia Wilde, alongside Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton, will accept the award for the film.
- A24 picked up domestic rights to The Invite in one of the biggest sales out of Sundance in January.
- The Invite became a summer box-office hit and grossed more than $60 million worldwide.
- Will McCormack and Rashida Jones wrote the script, adapting it from the 2020 Spanish film The People Upstairs.
- Nachhattar Singh Chandi called The Invite both comedic and deeply human, saying Rogen, Cruz and Norton each brought something irreplaceable and the team’s story stayed with audiences long after the credits rolled.
- Palm Springs International Film Awards will hold the ceremony on Jan. 7, 2027, at the Palm Springs Convention Center, and run the festival through Jan. 18, 2027.
Why it matters: The award recognizes Wilde, Rogen, Cruz and Norton together rather than treating The Invite as a solo-director achievement. At the Jan. 7, 2027 ceremony, the A24 comedy adds a festival distinction to a film that has already grossed more than $60 million worldwide.
