- Singapore Lions will face Thailand in the ASEAN Hyundai Cup semi-final first leg at Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday (Aug 15, 9pm kick-off), with the second leg at Bangkok's Rajamangala Stadium on Aug 18.
- More than 10 venues across Singapore — including Kallang Wave Mall, Our Tampines Hub, and community centres in West Coast, Tampines North, Boon Lay, Woodlands, Cheng San, ACE The Place, Bishan, One Punggol, and Tampines West — will host live screenings of one or both legs.
- Jalan Besar Stadium's 6,000 seats sold out shortly after Wednesday's 11am ticket release, with some fans queuing online before sales opened; the 55,000-seat National Stadium remains unavailable because reinstatement after National Day Parade takes roughly two-and-a-half weeks, per the Kallang Group.
- The Football Association of Thailand took up all 250 tickets allocated to its supporters, and Thai fans unable to enter plan to gather outside the stadium to sing and listen to the match, said Thai Association of Singapore committee member Pacheun Maleipan.
- West Coast Community Centre will be decorated in Singapore's national colours and filled with seats for Saturday's screening — its People's Association Community Sports Council said strong interest followed the Jalan Besar sellout and cited a similarly large World Cup turnout.
- Singaporean-Thai fan Grace Lim told CNA she is 'a little bit emotionally' inclined toward Thailand and is helping Thai supporters arriving from Bangkok coordinate their matchday presence while pledging to stay 'respectful of both countries.'
- ASEAN Hyundai Cup coverage is available live or on-demand on mewatch until Aug 26.
Why it matters: The Jalan Besar sellout in a single sales window — and the inability to fall back on the 55,000-seat National Stadium because of National Day Parade reinstatement work — forced a fan-engagement workaround that effectively turns the tournament into a nationwide watch party, with community centres and a shopping mall absorbing demand the stadium can't.
