- Team USA won the Presidents Cup 17-13 at Medinah after trailing by three heading into Sunday singles, completing the biggest final-day comeback in the event's history and avoiding a first Presidents Cup defeat since 1998.
- Brandel Chamblee told Golf Channel the US team's 9.5-to-2.5 Sunday singles performance was the 'greatest ever Sunday single performance, not just by a Presidents Cup team, but by a US Ryder Cup team,' surpassing the previous US record of 8.5 points that had stood since the 1979 Ryder Cup.
- Jacob Bridgeman delivered the decisive point, rallying from one down with three holes to play to beat Min Woo Lee on the final hole, sparking wild celebrations as the trophy was secured.
- Cameron Young, Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, Chris Gotterup, Patrick Cantlay, Collin Morikawa and Jackson Koivun all won their singles matches, with Xander Schauffele halving against Ryan Fox, as the US swept aside an Internationals side Chamblee said was overmatched on world ranking.
- Chamblee linked the rout to last year's Ryder Cup loss on home soil, noting the US lost at the 2025 Ryder Cup and that in the 2025 final-day singles Europe won only one match — exactly as the Internationals managed just two wins on Sunday across 24 combined matches.
- Team USA next plays Europe in the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor, Ireland on September 17-19, 2026, while the next Presidents Cup is scheduled for 2028 at Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne.
- Chamblee added the US side appeared 'chagrined' by criticism of their recent team-event results, suggesting Sunday's demolition was a deliberate answer to their detractors.
Why it matters: By winning 9.5 of 12 Sunday singles points — a full point better than any previous US team effort in either the Presidents Cup or Ryder Cup — Team USA erased the sting of their 2025 home Ryder Cup defeat in the most emphatic way possible. The performance flips the narrative around a US team that had absorbed criticism for faltering in team play, and gives them momentum heading into the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in three weeks.
