Four women accuse Jared Leto of criminal sexual conduct

- Four women — Isabel, Alex, Clara, and Etta — accuse Jared Leto of criminal sexual conduct in incidents spanning 2002 to 2016, alleging a motel-bathroom sexual assault at 17, sexual threats at 19, statutory rape at 17 in California (when Leto was 34), and grooming via repeated sexually explicit phone calls starting at 16, with Leto now 54.
- In total, 10 women spoke to the BBC documentary "Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret," nine sharing their accounts publicly for the first time; four more reported receiving strange or sexual phone calls, and a fifth described being sent backstage at a music festival at age 14 after Leto made a lewd comment about her chest.
- Two former Thirty Seconds to Mars crew members told the BBC staff felt uncomfortable with how Leto engaged teenage girls, with one ex-emer saying requests to modelling agencies for female VIP tickets came "directly from Jared" and describing a routine in which girls joined the band onstage before being invited to his dressing room or recording house.
- One of the women says Leto sent her a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to prevent her from disclosing their relationship; she refused to sign, and the BBC says it has seen the document.
- The BBC corroborated multiple accounts with friends and family who were told about the encounters at the time, along with photos and messages, and has counted more than 120 separate allegations made online relating to Leto's behaviour toward women.
- Jared Leto denied the allegations in a statement released through his representatives: "I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false" — he did not respond to repeated pre-publication approaches by the BBC.
- Last year, LA DJ Allie Teilz publicly said Leto assaulted her at 17, prompting further accusations; US outlet Air Mail subsequently published allegations from nine other women, all of which Leto has also denied.
Why it matters: The BBC investigation draws on 10 accusers, two corroborating crew insiders, contemporaneous messages and photos, and an unsigned NDA the broadcaster has seen — describing a 14-year pattern rather than isolated claims. It lands just as Leto and Thirty Seconds to Mars are scheduled to play the O2 London and Manchester's Co-op Live next spring, and follows earlier waves of allegations already pushed back on by the star.
