- Prime Video Nordics is adapting Ulf Kvensler's debut novel into four-part psychological thriller miniseries Sarek, with principal photography scheduled to begin in July and a 2027 launch.
- Sarek stars Felix Sandman (Quicksand), Kitt Walker Johansson (Burden of Justice), Alva Bratt (Barracuda Queens) and Nora Rios (Caliphate), and is set in Sweden's Sarek National Park where a group of friends' hiking trip turns dangerous.
- Måns Herngren (The Restaurant) serves as conceptualising director and head script writer, co-writing with Amanda Högberg and Axel Stjärne, while Henrik Björn (Jordskott) directs one episode.
- Banijay Entertainment's Jarowskij/Yellow Bird produces alongside Amazon MGM Studios, with Filmpool Nord as co-producer; Maida Krak produces and Elin Kvist executive produces.
- Emilia Widstrand is now leading Prime Video Nordics originals after replacing Karin Lindström, and also took over content acquisitions duties previously held by Andreas Hjertø, who exited in January.
- Prime Video's Nordic slate previously included Snake Killer, Vaka, and LOL: Last One Laughing, and in 2024 the streamer purchased nine Viaplay originals after that service cut back on costs.
Why it matters: The adaptation signals continued Nordic investment by Prime Video under newly installed originals chief Emilia Widstrand, anchoring the 2027 slate with a big-name local cast and established producers Jarowskij/Yellow Bird alongside Amazon MGM Studios. With no international distributor named yet, rights remain an open variable that will shape whether the series travels beyond the Nordics.
