- Microsoft debuted Nvidia-powered PCs with on-device AI, including the $2,599 Surface Laptop Ultra and $5,999 RTX Spark Dev Box, with The Information noting the launch follows Apple's breakout AI PC hit
- ZDNET called the machines appealing for extreme power users but said it will wait for 'AI PC 3.0' before buying, while Microsoft's own Windows Blog framed the launch as 'Building Windows for hybrid intelligence'
Why it matters: Microsoft is following Apple into on-device AI PCs with Nvidia-powered hardware priced $2,599 to $7,000, but ZDNET's verdict that the machines only suit 'extreme power users' and the reviewer's choice to hold off for 'AI PC 3.0' limits first-generation appeal to niche developers and enterprise buyers rather than mainstream consumers.
