Tony Gilroy, Pedro Pascal’s ‘Behemoth!’ to World Premiere as NYFF Centerpiece Selection

- The film will world premiere at Alice Tully Hall on Friday, Oct. 2, with Gilroy, Pedro Pascal, and additional cast members in attendance
- Pedro Pascal stars as Alex, a former child-prodigy cellist who returns to Los Angeles to record Hollywood film scores after leaving his Chicago orchestra post and fleeing a soured relationship with a manic ex played by Olivia Wilde
- The supporting cast includes Eva Victor, Hank Azaria, Will Arnett, JoBeth Williams, Margarita Levieva, Alexa Swinton, Kaya Ralls, and Erik Griffin
- Searchlight Pictures will release "Behemoth!"
- Gilroy's credits include writing and directing the Oscar-winning "Michael Clayton," creating the Emmy-winning "Andor," writing the first three "Bourne" films, and co-writing "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story"
- Dennis Lim, NYFF artistic director, called the film "immaculately crafted" and hailed Pascal's "tour de force" as "one of the performances of the year from one of our true movie stars"
Why it matters: With Lim declaring Pascal's lead "one of the performances of the year" and the Searchlight Pictures release landing the NYFF centerpiece slot — a festival Gilroy called "the benchmark" of his career — the Oct. 2 Alice Tully Hall premiere positions "Behemoth!" as a serious awards-season player. NYFF64 runs Sept. 25 through Oct. 12.
