- Generate Biomedicines used Claude Code in a six-scientist effort to propose CAR-T genetic instructions; one design was about 70% shorter than the standard and, in lab tests, produced roughly 10 times as many cancer-spotting receptors, more efficient tumor killing and longer-lasting immune cells.
- Divergence Labs used Claude to turn a two-arm IgE-detachment goal into a detailed design plan and generate roughly 35,000 antibody designs in about a month; early tests found three IgE-binding designs and 20 that dislodged IgE, with three of the 20 dislodging IgE more than standard medication did.
- BigHat Biosciences used Claude to propose changes, then made and tested about 1,010 molecule variants in roughly 10 weeks; after Claude’s raw-data reanalysis led to revised test metrics, the best cancer lead bound over 10 times more tightly and stayed in solution at 18°C higher, while the long-acting-drug lead clumped over 100 times more slowly.
- Enveda tested Claude on 1,061 pages of manufacturing documentation; it caught all 11 issues human reviewers spotted plus seven more and reduced review time 89%, from over 25 hours to under three. Claude also drafted two regulatory documents, one in four hours versus about three months by hand; standard review found one minor error in the other.
- The Column Group is establishing Pleiades, a company intended to use Claude to run more and more complex drug programs than is usual for a small biotech team; its first Claude skill, which assesses whether drug targets are worth pursuing, was evaluated on 45 target-disease pairs.
- Bristol Myers Squibb used Claude to analyze proprietary clinical-trial data, create an initial study plan and estimate success likelihood; a single prompt produced the initial analysis that otherwise took days, and the partners plan to expand the work in 2027.
- Anthropic acquired one-person Mithril Medicine, whose founder Cody Tranbarger used Claude to coordinate contracts, logistics and experiments across 11 external laboratories; the company took a possible treatment for one rare form of muscular dystrophy from idea to promising mouse results in under 18 months.
Why it matters: Enveda’s manufacturing chemists spent up to 75% of their time on paperwork; Claude reduced human document-review time 89%, from over 25 hours to under three, while flagging seven issues reviewers missed. The measurable gain for Enveda is faster compliance work with broader issue detection, not merely a faster first draft.
