- ChargePoint and Onvo announced a partnership to deploy Express Plus DC fast chargers at 12 Onvo highway travel plazas across Pennsylvania and New York
- ChargePoint Express Plus is a modular platform delivering up to 500 kW, supporting both CCS1 and NACS connectors, and charging multiple EVs simultaneously from a shared power system
- Onvo, headquartered in Scranton, Pennsylvania, operates 42 travel plazas and convenience stores clustered along Interstates 80, 81, and 78 in Pennsylvania and I-90 in New York
- Onvo VP of marketing Harman Aulakh said the partnership is aimed at serving all drivers needing to charge along US highways as more motorists switch to electric vehicles
- Neither company has announced when construction will begin or when the first chargers will open
Why it matters: The 12-site rollout targets highway fast-charging gaps along major Northeast corridors (I-80, I-81, I-78, I-90), where EV road-trip infrastructure remains patchy. ChargePoint's 500 kW capability and dual CCS1/NACS connector support make the sites usable for both current and next-generation EVs. With no construction timeline disclosed, however, driver access remains a future promise rather than a present reality.
