Anthropic Adds Dreaming, Orchestration to Claude
SkimNews Take
Pairing self-reflection with unbounded context lets agents build persistent state across sessions, shifting the product from a stateless tool to a compounding system that improves without explicit retraining.

- Anthropic launched Claude Managed Agents in April 2026 to simplify building and deploying cloud-hosted AI agents, and this week added three new capabilities to the platform
- Dreaming, classified as a research preview, is a scheduled process that reviews past agent sessions and memory stores to extract patterns and curate memories; users can let it update memory automatically or review changes first
- Outcomes lets users write a rubric describing success, with a separate grader evaluating the agent's output in its own context window — untouched by the agent's reasoning — and pinpointing what needs to change on a subsequent pass
- Outcomes also supports webhook notifications when an agent run finishes, letting teams trigger downstream workflows
- Multiagent orchestration lets a lead agent break a job into pieces and delegate each to a specialist with its own model, prompt, and tools, with specialists working in parallel on a shared filesystem and the lead able to check in mid-workflow
- Netflix's platform team has already deployed multiagent orchestration, per Anthropic
Why it matters: Anthropic is selling enterprises on agents that need less human babysitting — self-improving via dreaming, self-evaluating via outcomes, and scalable via subagent delegation. Netflix's early production deployment is exactly the kind of named-customer signal enterprise buyers weigh. With dreaming still labeled a research preview, Anthropic is shipping the scaffold (memory, grading, delegation) and betting the self-improvement loop matures in parallel.
