- Sophia Stallone's Callisto Media and Sylvester Stallone's Balboa Productions are developing "Bourbon & Lies" for MGM Television, based on Victoria Wilder's "Bourbon Boys" book series; Sophia originated the project and brought the IP to Balboa.
- Meredith Lavender and Marcie Ulin, who showran and exec produced HBO Max's "The Flight Attendant" for its first season, are set as creators and executive producers of the series.
- The source novel "Bourbon & Lies" was an Amazon No. 1 bestseller that released with Bloom Books in 2024, and Wilder has sold international rights to the books in more than a dozen territories.
- A spin-off series titled "The Whiskey Women" launched with "Rumors & Whiskey" this past June, expanding Wilder's bourbon-themed book universe.
- Lavender and Ulin are under a first-look deal with MGM Television and currently serve as consulting producers on Amazon's upcoming romance series "Rose Hill."
- The series is set in Fiasco, Kentucky, following ex-cop Grant Foxx and mysterious newcomer Laney Young, who begins working at the Foxx family distillery, with D. Matt Geller overseeing for Balboa Productions.
Why it matters: Sophia Stallone's Callisto Media continues its stated focus on female-driven literary adaptations by pairing the 'Bourbon Boys' IP — which has sold international rights in more than a dozen territories — with Lavender and Ulin, the proven hitmakers already locked into an MGM Television first-look deal.
