- Gold tumbled as much as 3.6% to $3,876.39 an ounce, the lowest since early October 2025, putting it on course for a monthly decline of more than 6%—its worst October since 2008.
- Silver dived more than 6% to below $49 an ounce, extending its monthly fall to nearly 19% and erasing all gains from the two-month rally that carried it above $120.
- Bloomberg attributed the selloff to soaring oil prices, inflation concerns and a slump in U.S. tech stocks, which pushed investors to sell bullion to recover losses.
- Bart Melek, TD Securities’ global head of commodity strategy, said higher oil prices had triggered a risk-off environment and Treasury rally, reducing liquidity for equities as trend followers challenged long-term support in both metals.
- Bengaluru listed 24-karat gold at ₹1,38,680 per 10 grams on October 31, alongside ₹1,27,123 for 22-karat and ₹1,04,010 for 18-karat; Silver 999 Fine was ₹1,79,240 per kg.
- Hyderabad quoted 24-karat gold at ₹1,38,790 per 10 grams, with 22-karat at ₹1,27,224 and 18-karat at ₹1,04,093; Silver 999 Fine was ₹1,79,390 per kg.
- India's listed city prices sat in narrow ranges: 24-karat gold ran from ₹1,38,340 in Delhi to ₹1,38,980 in Chennai, while Silver 999 Fine ranged from ₹1,78,790 to ₹1,79,620.
Why it matters: Indian bullion buyers are seeing lower local quotes as global declines coincided with 24-karat gold in Bengaluru at ₹1,38,680 per 10 grams and Silver 999 Fine at ₹1,79,240 per kg. The decline is broad and severe: gold is headed for its worst month since 2008, while silver’s nearly 19% monthly fall has erased its entire rally.
