- Alexander Isak scored the winning goal at the Vitality Stadium after a poor opening featuring a wayward effort and a cross that ballooned into the stands; he has already scored more Premier League goals this season than he did in the entirety of last season
- Jeremy Jacquet earned the match-high rating of 8/10 for a composed defensive display, recovering from a naive early foul on Evanilson to make several key tackles
- Alisson produced a crucial reaction save to deny Evanilson and was rated integral to Liverpool's clean sheet, anchoring a defense that withstood sustained Bournemouth pressure
- Cody Gakpo was the architect of the winner, charging down the right flank and delivering the dangerous ball that Isak converted to break the deadlock
- Florian Wirtz was rated 5/10 for another underwhelming outing but inadvertently created the goal when his blocked attempt fell into Isak's path
- Antonio Silva turned in another impressive display for Bournemouth, with the ratings noting the Portuguese centre-back is settling into life in the Premier League
- Bradley Barcola, Liverpool's marquee summer signing, was rated 6/10 with the assessment that 'Liverpool want more' from the French forward
Why it matters: Iraola's first return to the Vitality Stadium since leaving Bournemouth ended in defeat, while Liverpool's 1-0 win — built on Jacquet's defensive poise and Alisson's key save — reinforced that the club's summer recruitment is already delivering, with Isak's poacher's finish nudging him past last season's Premier League total.
