- Meryl Streep recounted how a fellow Oscar winner introduced her to Julia Loktev’s My Undesirable Friends, leaving her “just absolutely entranced” and making her a major fan of the documentary.
- Meryl Streep serves as an executive producer on My Undesirable Friends, the two-part Julia Loktev documentary examining women journalists in Russia who paid a heavy price for daring to report the truth.
Why it matters: Meryl Streep brings both public advocacy and an executive-producer role to a two-part film about women journalists in Russia. The concrete development is her direct attachment to the project: the three-time Oscar winner is not merely an admirer of the documentary’s reporting but a producer behind it.
